Teaching

There have been some who have asked, "who is the guy who writes these books"? As the author of the books “Coming Home,” “Nobody Home” and “This Is It” I don't want to detract from the "real subject" because that is what is impersonal, not the individual instrument or scribe. The real issue of my books and website is not what is different between you and me but That which we all (equally) share. What we all are without exception. And what we all are is called Beingness, for lack of a better term. And as there is only one Beingness it is also referred to as Oneness. My books try to point to That (and fail in doing so because words always fail to describe Oneness), they are not about me. The characteristics of the (apparent) author are of no relevance. I am certainly not a teacher giving satsang. And I am certainly not a guru who is telling you what to do. And I am obviously not a saint who is giving an example of how perfect (on the spiritual level) you also should be.

I (who?) find it hard to try and convince people of what I've described in my books as I don't see any need to try and change any of my readers. I don't see any urge to bring you (who?) closer to Oneness as you are already there. I am not on a higher level of consciousness. I am not spiritually more developed than my readers. I don't see any levels – there is only Oneness. I have been talking for small groups about this subject in London and Amsterdam to promote the sales of the books for a while, but words always fail to make “This” clear. During such meetings, I preferred the moments of silence, in fact. Moreover, there is no motivation to try and convince my readers of what I have been writing about in my books. I found it hard to charge money for meetings while I didn't have anything to give to anyone. I was asked to give more satsangs and retreats, but if Beingness is everywhere, where should I bring these people to? If it is clear to me that there is nothing wrong with you, why should I try to change you – even if you believe it is for the better? And if the border between “me” and “the others” is just a concept, why should I try and transmit the flame?

Many sites on the internet offer "satsang with this teacher," “coming home to your divine self,” “seven steps to absolute fulfilment” or "Enlightenment with that master". All these games are very attractive to the seeking mind. It's the spiritual business that has been around for ages, and it is beautiful and fascinating sometimes. All these beliefs and stories, it's amazing how attractive they can be. There is nothing wrong with them, they are what they are, but they only confirm the believe in a separate seeker who has to attain something. My books rather point to the opposite. To avoid those processes where people are motivated to work on themselves, I do not whish to draw to much attention on techniques and spiritual levels. Nor do I want to focus on the character Jan,. Let's be clear about this: if the seeker you believe you are is just a phantom, where can I bring you? Can one ghost bring another ghost closer to Beingness?
