Biopuncture is especially interesting for athletes. The major techniques used for sports injuries are described in the new book “Biopuncture and the Management of Sports Injuries” (The use of intralesional injections of biotherapeutics for athletes). This booklet by Dr. Jan Kersschot is published in the US (summer 2008) and is also available in German (nov 2008) and French (spring 2010). Below, you find the foreword to this book by Dr A Orizola (Olympic team Chili).
Foreword by Dr. Orizola
Many of our athletes suffer from injuries and want to be healed quickly without side effects. While searching for products not appearing on any doping list, I discovered natural products that have been used in sports medicine for several decades. Especially in Germany there is a long tradition of the use of natural products in sports medicine. My own research concerning the use of Traumeel cream made me realise how effective and safe these products are for our patients.
Realising this, I also understood how these products could be more beneficial when injected right at the spot. It would give even better and quicker results. This is especially true for deeper lesions, for example, in muscles or ligaments that can't normally be reached to apply an ointment.
This book is an interesting introduction to the use of Biopuncture when treating sports injuries. For some twenty years now Dr Jan Kersschot from Belgium has been instrumental in the development and design of these techniques resulting in interesting concepts of therapy together with indication and exact localization of these injections which can be successfully applied in medical practice.
